The Sword of Shannara has a rich history in the books, having been used by Shannaras to defeat the Warlock Lord for hundreds of years. The spider could be a guardian of the Sword of Shannara, or one of the many obstacles the characters will face in their search. Also spotted in the promo is a monstrous giant spider that attacks Will, Allanon and the others. Bandon tells the queen that " when it comes to the Warlock Lord, debts are always paid," which suggests that the queen may have a secret connection to the dangerous villain. Now Allanon (Manu Bennett), Will, and Eretria (Ivana Baquero) will have to work together to thwart Bandon's plans.īandon is also seen confronting Queen Tamlin, whose guards are unable to prevent him from walking right into the throne room. Will's days of saving the world seemed to be over until the season 2 premiere, which saw Bandon (Marcus Vanco) go down a dark and dangerous path by attempting to resurrect the Warlock Lord, a Druid who was corrupted by dark magic, as well as the main villain of Sword of Shannara. Season 1 of The Shannara Chronicles saw Will defeat the Dagda Mor, however, the character was unable to have the happy ending he wanted after Amberlee (Poppy Drayton) sacrificed herself to become the new Ellcrys.
The classic weapon, whose name served as the title for the first book in the Shannara series, is name-dropped in the promo for next week's episode.
With season 2 of The Shannara Chronicles bringing Will Ohmsford (Austin Butler) into conflict with his father's old enemy, it stands to reason that he'll need his father's sword, the Sword of Shannara, to defeat him. The Shannara Chronicles is set to finally introduce the legendary Sword of Shannara.
